AU Rude Mechanicals was formed during the Spring of 2003. Thomas Ferlisi, Rebecca Krichinsky and Jessica DeStefano were the founding board members. The guiding principal of the formation of the club was "To promote an awareness of Shakespeare on campus and provide another artistic outlet." To this day, this is still the mission of the club. The first show was an evening of theatre with no cohesive theme. Rude Mechanicals has come a long way since that first show, and can will only get better with time.

"Rude Mechanicals is almost like a family. Throughout my tenure as President, I strived for two things: one, to put on damned good shows; and two, to create a real sense of a troupe. I feel that while there I met both of these demands. Our shows were always successful and throughout the rehearsal process, fun-outings, RM parties, pirate parties and TDR dinners, my club became a family."
Thom Ferlisi (Founder, President '03 - '06).
